My friend Adam Paul of Time Warp Custom Paint just finished up the new paint job on my gas tank, and it has exceeded my expectations!!!

When he asked me what I wanted done, I just told him to work his magic.  I’ve been watching Adam’s talent evolve for years now, and felt that whatever I suggested would only place limits.  As work progressed he told me that he’d been wanting to try combining hot and cold colors for awhile, and decided this would be a good opportunity.

When I originally started my build ( 3 years ago now… ) I had wanted to give it a ‘steam-punkish’ kind of flair, but as it has stretched on and on I’ve kept sacrificing detail to speed up the process.   This paint job has brought me right back to what I was thinking originally.

One thing I didn’t expect was to have anything on my bike of ‘show quality’, which has me now wanting to completely change things up.  I’m going to redo my seat pan, get a much smaller battery so I can shrink the size of the hump, get a new tack and speedo, relocate the key switch, and make new indicator lights.  I might also get a bikini fairing, or maybe something a bit bigger.

Adam is also going to do a paint job on my helmet to match the tank.  I’ve got a modular helmet that is just gun metal grey right now and I’m really excited to see what he does with it.

Here are some more pictures from the process:
