I read here recently on the Yamaha Triples forum an article on cleaning carburetors by soaking them in Pinesol –

– and the article the author referenced at Adventure Rider

– so I decided to give this a shot.

I’ll be letting these babys soak for about three days.  In the meantime, I’ve got kits to order for their rebuilding.  Some of the after-shots I’ve seen on the above links have looked quite impressive.  There is so much crap in the small spaces that I don’t feel comfortable cleaning them with anything abrasive that could potentially scratch things up.  Only problem I’ve had getting stuff out is stripped screw and bolt heads, plus the pilot jets in each carb just ain’t coming out yet.  We’ll see what happens in a couple days.
